I have a rice cooker, but I can not find the instructions. Does anyone know how they work? Do you have to cook a large amount of rice at once, or can you cook a single serving at a time?

answer as soon as possible.... not how to use it but how the mechanism of rice cooker....how the rice cooker detect when the rice that have been put in the pot are already ready to eat...i hope you understand what i wnt to say..
A The rice cooker has a thermostat within the housing. It senses when the water has evaporated or has been absorbed by the rice, the temperature suddenly rises with no more water to convey away the heat as steam. This sudden rise what the thermostat senses as the time to switch off or go to warming mode depending on what model you have.
