I have a new rice cooker and I have tried 3 times to cook Japanese rice. The first time I tried I didn't put enough water so it started to stick to the sides and burn when the cooker was set to warm. Another time I tried there was too much water and it ended up being gruel. My rice refuses to look and taste like it came from a Japanese restaraunt! HELP!!!
A I have Kokuho rose japanese rice with me. It states that it should be cooked at a 1cup rice to 1.25 cup of water, and I do about that, maybe even slightly less water. Have you tried to cook your rice according to the instruction? Now, usually you have to modify somewhat later, because everyone has a different preference and not all rice cookers are the same. Now if you are talking about Japanese rice for sushi (e.g. making sushi), that is different.
