- Are rice cookers better than stove top?
I'm thinking of buying a rice cooker. What are the benefits and disadvantages of a rice cooker vs. the traditional way of cooking rice? And can anyone recommend a good rice cooker?
A There are many advantages to having a rice cooker: *Easy to use & cook rice for people who have difficulty cooking . *Can be set on a timer so will turn on and you will have nice hot freshly cooked rice ready when you get home from work. *Is safe to leave unattended, where a stovetop is NOT. *Cooks rice and keeps it warm for a long time, for a family with varying schedules The disadvantages: *another gadget to store when not in use *Difficult to find cookers without the Teflon coating these days, and the rice still sticks, and wears off little amounts of Teflon, which is very bad for you to ingest * you only ever get steamed rice
